About 80% of the preordered ebooks contained some sort of file corruption. This appeared in a wide variety of ways, most commonly entire sections or chapters were missing, book four was spliced with book three, or the entire book contained only black lines

In short, I don’t really know.

I initially believed that I had uploaded the wrong file, but have since determined that this was not a mistake on my end. It was a corruption of the file on the part of Amazon and completely out of my control.

It is a commonly known problem among authors that sometimes Amazon just glitches. There is no explanation, and authors are unfairly tasked with cleaning up the mess.

This affected ONLY preordered ebooks and ebooks purchased on or before October 11th, 2024. It does not affect Kindle Unlimited, recent ebooks, paperbacks, hardcovers or audiobooks.

As of October 11th, 2024 the book has been updated.

I have been doing nothing but attempting to troubleshoot this issue and subsequently answering hate mail since the moment the book went live. At this time, there is nothing more I can do.

As of 10/11/24 the book has been updated, however your preordered copy will not automatically update without intervention. YOU MUST fully remove the old copy from your device and ensure your kindle is set to receive updates before redownloading.

If you have a damaged preorder copy you WILL NOT be able to read the correct copy on KU until you remove the old copy.

Removing the damaged copy MUST be done from your Amazon account itself, not only on your device.

1. On a desktop, sign into your Amazon account.

2. Go to your Digital Content page

3. Select Books

4. Select the checkboxes next to the books you want to remove

5. Select Delete in the action bar

6. Select Yes, delete permanently to confirm

If you think it’s damaged it probably is.

AKOM has 40 chapters and an epilogue. There is no prologue.

If you are reading book four, you have likely read the first three books. If your copy of AKOM has sections missing or seems to be of obviously lesser quality to those books, you should assume there is something wrong.
